The couple died relatively young by Hobbit standards (in 29 respectively), leaving Bilbo as the master of Bag End, where he resided as a bachelor.īag End overlooked its immediate neighbours, a series of poorer smials on Bagshot Row. He and his wife only had had one child, the famous Bilbo Baggins (born 2890). Bungo built the main entrance to Bag End on a path off The Hill Road, on the north side of Hobbiton. It was built circa T.A. 2885 by the wealthy Bungo Baggins of Hobbiton as a wedding gift to Belladonna Took, a daughter of Gerontius Took, the Thain of the Shire. It had many rooms, but only those on the west had windows, which opened on to the garden’s grassy slope and meadows beyond. Bag End was a luxurious smial under The Hill in Hobbiton.
